A man is arrested for releasing dozens of cockroaches in Anime Music Event last August

A bizarre incident during the annual Anime Music event last year has finally come to a conclusion. The perpetrator was arrested recently.

The man is identified as Kazuyuki Iwatani as reported by Otaku. Police arrested the 33-year-old from chef from Osaka as he admitted his wrongdoing to release a handful of red cockroaches during the Animelo Summer Live 2016 in Saitama Super Arena last August.

Iwatani brought a handful of flightless red cockroaches to the annual live Anime music concert Animelo Summer Live 2016. He later threw at least a few dozen of cockroaches near the seating area where the concert audience seated. According to Rocket News, the eye witnesses saw a number of bugs flied from Iwatani's hand as he lifted up his arm. They avoided the man and reported him to the concert security who later apprehended him.

He was then released after the concert, but the authorities arrested him later for obstructing the events. Iwatani admitted his wrongdoing, but the motive and reason behind his hideous act during the Animelo Summer Live 2016 remained unknown. The cockroaches he released during the event is the type of red roaches, also known as Turkestan roach, which unable to fly nor climb a smooth surface. The roach is usually used as reptile food.

Animelo Summer Live 2016 is the annual live anime song concert which has been performed for more than 10 years. The concert, which often abbreviated as Anisama, is hosted and organized by Nippon Cultural Broadcasting and Dwango Media Company.

The concert has changed its venue three times. The first concert was held in Yoyogi National Gymnasium in 2005. Later, Nippon Cultural Broadcasting changed the venue for two years in Nippon Budokan in Central Tokyo. Subsequently, since 2008 until the last Animelo Summer Live 2016, the event is held at Saitama Super Arena, one of the largest indoor stadium in the world, situated in Saitama City just outskirt of Tokyo.
