The NBA trade rumors persist and the probability of Paul George leaving his current team looms on the horizon.
More reports emerge about the Indiana Pacers' superstar and according to Kevin O Connor's source, George has made up his mind as stated in his piece on The Ringer.
"Paul George and Jimmy Butler were involved in trade rumors at the deadline, and all indications are that those conversations will resume this offseason. One front-office source told me recently that Butler is 'as good as gone,' while George sounds like a player who wants out."
"There's no urgency, no sense of urgency, no winning pride," George stated in a post-game interview inTuesday's loss. "This locker room is just not pissed off enough."
It is already a given that George wants to play on a contender or the LA Lakers. PG13's sentiments reflects the sentiments of today's players-winning is top priority while being at their hometown is secondary (for KD, it's not even an option).
The Lakers need to keep their draft pick to gain another piece since their free agent signings of Timofey Mozgov and Luol Deng has not helped their cause. It would still take more than Paul George to make them a contender.
For this reason, Sir Charles in Charge listed possible destinations aside from Tinseltown. Their arch rivals, the Boston Celtics seem like an ideal destination. They have the trade pieces to seal the deal and a star in the frontline in Al Horford along with Isaiah Thomas, who has actually become a legitimate MVP contender.
There is also another scenario where George returns to his hometown, but for the LA Clippers instead of the Lakers. The Clippers have their Big Three of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, but they have to settle their free agency concerns before presenting themselves as a destination.
However, the scenario presented has George arriving through free agency, where the Clippers let Blake Griffin walk. They simply do not have the trade pieces to make it work.
The biggest surprise could be the Philadelphia 76ers. If Joel Embiid's injury is not as dire as predicted, he is a prime talent. Dario Saric has also made his own case as a legitimate Rookie of the Year candidate while we have yet to see Ben Simmons. The talent is loaded and having a leader like Paul George can take them to the next level.
