Cleveland Browns has mentioned the team's interest to bring the New England Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo into the team. However, the Patriots has not decided whether the team will let him go or not.

Garoppolo is the backup for Tom Brady together with the last year's rookie Jacoby Brissett for New England Patriots. His style of play is reported to draw interest from the Browns, Cleveland reported. The rumor about Brown's interest in him was heightened during the NFL Annual Meeting last week in Phoenix. However, until the end of the meeting on Wednesday, March 29, the Patriots was reluctant to answer the request.

Browns has an obsession to stockpile young quarterbacks. Following the disappointing result of overrated quarterback Johnny Manziel, the Browns were left with only Kevin Hogan and last year's rookie Cody Kessler. Last month, Cleveland Browns acquire Brock Osweiler from Houston Texans via trade. However, the desire of Cleveland Brown general manager Sashi Brown's to hoard quarterbacks has not been entirely fulfilled.

GM Brown is reported to target Garoppolo from the Patriots and plan to put him as the starter for the 2017 season. Unfortunately, the Patriots does not seem to have the plan to trade Garoppolo. In fact, New England Patriots is reported to prepare the 25-year-old player to become Tom Brady successor as the main quarterback for the Pats, according to NBC.

New England Patriots selected Garoppolo in the 2014 NFL Draft as the 62nd overall pick in the second round. He played college football for Eastern Illinois Panthers and in his college football career, he broke the Tony Romo's record for career pass completion. Garoppolo made 6,967 yards of passing completion and 104 touchdown pass for the Panthers from 2010 to 2013.

When the Patriots drafted him, it is clearly visible that Garoppolo is planned to succeed Brady. In the last season, coach Bill Belichick gave Garappolo a substantial amount of playtime. Watch Garoppolo's highlight in the game against the Cardinals in 2016 season below:
