After leaving 2NE1 in April 2016, Minzy has been actively pursuing various projects. Earlier this year, she promoted the documentary film titled "Obedience." The film tells the story of a Village in Uganda where its people are recovering from the effects of the Ugandan Civil War.
"Obedience" stars "Princess Hours" actress Kim Eun Hye, who portrays a missionary that took care of children whose parents were massacred.
Minzy also joined "Unnies Slam Dunk" Season 2, where she starred alongside Kim Sook, Hong Jin Kyung, Hang Chae Young, and Kang Ye Won. The variety show was Minzy's first official activity since exiting 2NE1.
In "Unnies Slam Dunk" Season 2, Minzy went back to her idol roots as the show focused on the Girl Group Project aspiration, which Min Hyo Rin started in the previous season. Minzy explained that she chose the show as her first solo activity because she believed it would be fun and special to work alongside her co-stars and that she felt a certain level of synergy with the group.
