Before Kreisha Tiu enthralls us in her solo debut, get to know the up-and-coming idol who hails from the Philippines.
Who is Kreisha Tiu?
17-year-old Kreisha Tiu/Chrisha Choo was born in Cebu City, Philippines. According to The Philippine Daily Inquirer, she grew up in San Francisco, California where she was eventually discovered and recruited by her current agency Urban Works Entertainment.
She moved to South Korea with her mother and brother where she trained under Urban Works and learned to speak Korean.
Road to stardom
Tiu was one of the contestants in "K-Pop Star 6: The Last Chance." The young talent became a favorite among judges early in the show, with YG Entertainment's Yang Hyun Suk declaring her as the next big superstar.
After one of her performances, Yang was so impressed by her that he took interest in signing her into YG Entertainment. Tiu also received praise from JYP Entertainment's J.Y. Park, who commented that "she's like a real star when she sings and dances."
Her "K-Pop Star 6" journey, however, stopped when she was eliminated in December. While performing a remix of BTS' "Blood, Sweat and Tears" and BLACKPINK's "Playing With Fire," she forgot the lyrics to the song which ultimately became the reason for her elimination.
Fortunately for Tiu, she was brought back on the show as the judges' "wild card" choice.
