"Hunter X Hunter" is a Japanese Magazine series that focuses on a young boy named Gon Fences who is in pursuit of finding his father in the world of Hunter. And before he can do that he still need to train in order to get a hunter license to get through the said world.
As per Kotaku, the "Hunter X Hunter" series does have a lot of followers worldwide, receiving good critical reviews and boosted sales to its publisher making it their highest grossing magazine. But the magazine's hiatus made a lot of fans sad.
Manga time offs is not a new thing. It has been happening even to popular and most read mangas. The main reason is it gives time to the manga artists to expand his creativity and explore new stories. But there also a lot of factors to take into consideration like publisher issues, marketing, resources or even the budget.
According to the manga artist Yoshihiro Togashi of the well-loved Hunter series, the longest hiatus he had was 80 issues and the longest manga issues that he had published in a row was 30 streaks. But it is still unclear if when the series will return for as of now it's still to be announced.
The last publication of the said series was last June 3, 2016. As per Crunchy Roll, it was "Hunter x Hunter" volume 33, entitled "Threats," and English release was last March 7, 2017. According to Shueisha, "Hunter X Hunter's" publisher, when asked by GetNews about the ending of the hiatus. They replied "Regarding the serialisation's resumption, that is undecided at this current point. Once determined, it will be formally announced the magazine." So, for now, hiatus remains and still continues.
To alleviate fans longing of the manga series, the publisher promised to release "Hunter x Hunter" Volume 34 on June 26. It is a collection of ten unpublished chapters. Rumors are also circulating that it may be hinting the manga's return, it can also be the end of the series.
