Popular boy band group EXO′s member Lay has revealed that he wants to pursue a solo career if permitted by his agency. The statement was made after Lay was asked about his desire to pursue a solo career during a recent press conference. The band is promoting their third full album EX′ACT at the SMTOWN COEX Atrium in Seoul, Korea.
Lay, who is the only Chinese member of the band, revealed that he is trying very hard to fit in because of the different systems and thoughts in China.
He expressed readiness to go solo if permitted by the company.
Lay recently released his own solo track "Monodrama."
The emcee at the press conference, Super Junior Leetuk, agreed that the company will need to give its blessings first before such a move can be done.
Fans are receptive to the idea that Lay should go solo, and believes that he will do very well as a solo artist.
EX′ACT includes the track "Monster," which is currently lording over the charts and the album already has a huge pre-order of over 660,000.
EXO will start promoting their new Album "M Countdown" on Thursday and this will be followed by performances on Music Bank and Show Music Core. They will also appear on South Korean TV program Inkigayo on June 12.
EXO shot to fame in 2012 with the album XOXO. The album includes the breakthrough hit "Growl" and became very popular worldwide. Their influence in the music scene in Korea led to them to be ranked among the most influential celebrities by Forbes Korea in the year 2014. They followed up with another hit album Exodus, which cemented their claim to fame in the KPop scene.
