Singer-songwriter Joel Tan, commonly known by his stage name as ‘Gentle Bones,’ is one of the most successful Singaporean artists. After his recent two-night concert, Tan has revealed that ts overwhelmed by the crowd’s response.
“2 SURREAL NIGHTS & a new EP that had been too long in the works. I am honored to have been given the opportunity to perform for you all. Thanks for celebrating our island's love for music with my band, the entire crew, Universal Music Singapore and I,” Tan posted on his Facebook page.
The concert, held at the Esplanade Concert Hall on June 10 and 11, was attended by over 1,500 enthusiastic fans - mostly made up of teenagers and young adults.
Tan performed acoustic ballads, electronic jams, and indie-rock songs during the show. He also introduced his new singles ‘Run Tell Daddy’ and ‘Geniuses & Thieve' at the event.
Tickets to the concert reportedly sold out 10 days after it was released.
The 22-year-old artist was astounded and emotional after hearing the wild applause, loud whistles, and admirations from the audience during the show. In fact, he has revealed that he shed a few tears and was left speechless for a moment.
Tan gained fame in in 2011 through his YouTube account where he had been posting self-composed songs and guitar covers. Since then, he has performed at various major music festivals in his country.
He is currently signed to Universal Music Singapore. His debut album ‘Gentle Bones’ was released in 2014 while his second album ‘Geniuses & Thieves’ was released this year.
According to Straight Times, Tan received the Super Nova Award at the Hong Kong Asian-Pop Music Festival 2016 and was included in Forbes list of top 30 entertainment and sports personalities in Asia.
