After a Gangnam waitress accused JYJ's Park Yoochun of sexually assaulting her, the singer has released a statement calling her a blackmailer.
C-Jes Entertainment, the agency that represents Yoochun, released the K-Pop star's response on Monday, June 13. The statement described the accusation "a one-sided claim based on falsities" and "malicious blackmail."
The agency also said that the 30-year-old singer will "faithfully cooperate with the investigation from here on in order to reveal the truth."
The alleged event happened on June 4 in the bathroom of an adult entertainment establishment in Seoul, where Yoochun is stationed for his mandatory military service.
The woman, identified as Ms. Lee, is a 24-year-old employee of the club, who had been drinking on the night of the incident. She claims to have rejected Yoochun's advances but that he proceeded regardless.
The woman's boyfriend reported the alleged attack a week after it occurred, on June 10.
"Yoochun came to the establishment as a customer and [Lee] was forcefully raped in a bathroom at the store," he said.
Lee submitted her underwear from that night to the police.
The police also obtained CCTV footage of Yoochun but said it did not incriminate the singer. Still, investigators have said they will take in the star for questioning.
C-Jes has urged fans to "refrain from brash speculations or reports with unconfirmed facts until the investigation is complete because the reports of the accusation themselves are causing severe defamation on Yoochun."
Yoochun has been serving in the public sector for his mandatory service since August 2015. His asthma kept him from active duty.
The other two members of JYJ are also serving in the military. Kim Jaejoong enlisted in March 2-15, and Kim Junsu will begin his duty later this year.
