The affair between actress Kim Min-hee and Cannes award-winning film director Hong Sang-soo has grabbed the headlines since it was confirmed recently. More details have surfaced indicating that the mother of Kim and Hong's wife have been exchanging text messages about the alleged affair.
Hong's wife reportedly sent Kim's mother a message on September 30 explaining that her husband had left her for Kim. "Please help your daughter control her feelings. I am so distressed," her message read. The mother of Kim allegedly replied, "Whose heart hurts more, a wife whose husband cheated or a mom whose daughter who has fallen in love with a married man?"
The exchange of text messages went on between the two with Hong's wife claiming that Kim's mother did not understand her situation. However, the actress' mother contested her statement saying that "heart is crying right now." Hong's wife went on to say that Kim is an adulteress who ruined a happy family, but Kim's mother disagreed saying that she raised her daughter well, Soompi reported.
Hong and Kim reportedly met while filming Right Now, Wrong Then. Kim was one of the stars in the movie, and Hong was the director, according to KPop Herald. Hong married his wife back in 1985 after meeting her during his studies in the United States. They have one daughter. Kim, on the other hand, has never been married and is 22 years younger than Hong.
Hong's wife alleges that the director is no longer providing money for their daughter's schooling. Hong's wife also claims that Hong has not been getting offers for commercials and films after news about his relationship with Kim surfaced. However, there are contradictory reports that Hong and Kim have worked on two more projects that are yet to be released.
