SBS' Korean drama "Doctors" topped the viewership rankings for two days in a row, according to Nielsen Korea, a viewership rating research company. The TV series is currently dominating among Monday primetime Korean dramas.
The new medical drama "Doctors" is aired every Mondays and Tuesdays. The first episode aired on June 20 and had a record of 12.9 percent in ratings nationwide. This percentage is greater compared to the 11.8 percent rating for the last episode of the historical drama "Jackpot" or "The Royal Gambler," had 24 episodes aired between March 28 to June 14. The second episode of "Doctors" secured a rating of 14.2 percent, surpassing its previous record.
KBS' "Beautiful Mind" aired at the same time as "Doctors" and had a rating of 4.1 percent for its first episode, which is three times less than that of "Doctors." "Beautiful Mind" got a rating of 4.5 percent on Tuesday.
MBC's revenge series "Monster" was also aired at the same time and got a rating of 9.7 percent on Monday and 11.1 percent on Tuesday.
These results make "Doctors" the highest-rated show so far of all the dramas aired on Mondays and Tuesdays, and could become the next "Descendants of the Sun."
The "Doctors" drama is about the life of Yoo Hye-Jung (portrayed by Park Shin-hye). Hye-Jung overcomes her tough challenges with the help of Hong Ji-hong portrayed by Kim Rae-won and became a certified doctor. This drama is written by Ha Myung-hee and directed by Oh Choong-hwan.
