Sarah Jessica Parker is starring in a new upbeat comedy named Divorce. Parker released the first official trailer of the film on Wednesday.
In the teaser, Parker's character asks her husband for divorce; with scenes that depicted how difficult the process of breaking a relationship is. A highlight of the clip shows a counseling session between the couple where it was revealed that her husband an affair with another woman.
"You had an emotional affair," said Parker.
"It was not an affair because it was never physical," her husband explained.
Parker and the female counselor found themselves shocked, closing the scene with a huge expression of "Wow."
Divorce follows Frances (Parker), a middle-aged woman who suddenly asked her husband (Thomas Haden Church) for a divorce after reassessing her life and marriage. Later on, she realizes that a fresh start is harder than she thought.
The 10-episode comedy series is created by Sharon Horgan with Parker, Aaron Kaplan, Paul Simms, and Alison Benson serving as executive producers.
In addition to Parker and Church, the series also stars Alex Wolff, Jemaine Clement, Molly Shannon, Sterling Jerins, Talia Balsam, Thomas Haden Church, and Tracy Letts.
Divorce is Parker's second big project from HBO after the success of Sex and the City for six seasons. The hit series has been nominated for over 50 Emmy awards and has spawned two feature films in 2008 and 2010.
In 2004, Parker finally won an Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series since her first nomination in 1999.
Divorce joins other hit scripted shows on HBO this year. The list includes Game of Thrones, Veep, Silicon Valley, Westworld and The Leftovers.
Divorce is slated for a fall debut on HBO.
