"Imaginary Cat" has received mixed reviews after its launch but critics are focusing on lead actress Cho Hye Jung's performance on the show.
According to AllKPop, the show has been receiving a lot of criticisms because of their own casting choice. In an interview with a Korean Media, the show's representative said that they do acknowledge the complaints on the show and that they are going to do their best to improve.
"There is some criticism on Cho Hye Jung's acting, but there are also comments saying that it wasn't so bad. It will only improve from now on," said the show's rep.
The rep added that they have seen the tedious preparation of the actress and they do not think she deserved the bashing of the critics.
"She's put a lot of effort into this project so please be on the lookout," the rep added.
More speculations indicate that Cho Hye Jung did not undergo the basic casting stage. Instead, she used her connections in the industry to get the role.
Cho Hye Jung defended herself during a press conference and said, "There were a lot of talks regarding the casting. I promised myself that I would put an end to my hardships [and act]. During filming, I thought that I should give all my concentration on set. I tried my best."
The show's first episode aired last Nov. 24. Cho Hye Jung is acting together with Yoo Seung Ho in the show.
Though there has been some negative reviews about the lead actress, the audience were quite delighted by Yoo Seung Ho's performance, noting that he has portrayed himself as a veteran actor.
