Aimee Garcia joined the cast of "Lucifer" Season 2 as a series regular role.
Garcia, whose recent TV credits include "Dexter" and "Rush Hour", will play the role of LAPD's new forensic scientist Ella Lopez, TV Line reported. Per the early casting intel, Garcia's character is described as "a bit of a walking contradiction. She's brainy but spiritual. Warm but tough. She grew up in a pretty rough neighborhood in Detroit, but also in a strong Catholic family, under the watchful and protective eye of her five brothers... which might explain some of her opposing personality traits."
Garcia will join previously cast Tricia Helfer who play the role of Lucifer's mother from hell. Helfer will debut on the show's second season premiere.
Meanwhile, the production for "Lucifer" Season 2 has officially kicked off. New behind-the-scenes photo from the set have been leaked online featuring stills of series star Tom Ellis with guest star Tricia Helfer.
Based on the photos, it seems that Lucifer is not so thrilled to see his mother as they are seen in one sequence having an argument. Co-stars Tom Ellis and Tricia Helfer, meanwhile, look great together in their portrayals of the evil mother and son duo.
Recently, executive producer Joe Henderson has previewed what fans can expect from the introduction of Lucifer's mom, saying that they are exploring different directions about her relationship with Lucifer that may or may not be tied to the comics.
"This is us taking a step and exploring the answer to a question a lot of people never asked and staking our own claim," Henderson told TV Line.
"There are a lot of directions we can go and we've chosen one that we're really excited about."
"Lucifer" Season 2 premieres on Monday, Sept. 19 at 9PM on FOX.
