After portraying roles in the American box-office hit film “Avengers: Age of Ultron” in 2015 and the drama web series “Marco Polo,” South Korean actress Claudia Kim is set to star in an upcoming Hollywood film again. But this time, she will play as a lead female protagonist.

According to All K-Pop, Kim’s talent agency ECHO Global Group announced on Friday, July 15, that the actress will be starring in the upcoming 2017 fantasy, science fiction and horror film “The Dark Tower.” It is based on the novel series of the same name by American bestselling author Stephen King and will be distributed by Columbia Pictures.

The agency added that Kim, playing the role of Arra Champignon, will be working together with “Fool’s Gold” star Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba of the HBO crime drama TV series “The Wire.”

The film’s casts have already started filming the upcoming movie since the beginning of 2016 and is set to premiere on February 17 next year, Soompi reported.

In her Facebook account, the 31-year-old actress posted McConaughey and Elba’s cover photo on the Entertainment Weekly magazine promoting the movie as well as a scene at an airport’s departure area. The actress has recently left for Cape Town, South Africa to shoot for the film.

"I'm finally able to tell you this news officially. Thank you for always supporting me,” the actress stated in one of her online accounts as quoted by All Kpop.

Kim, born as Kim Soo-hyun, started her career in the South Korean entertainment platform in 2005. She appeared on the TV series “Brain,” “Standbye” and “7th Grade Civil Servant.”
