"House Of Cards" actor Michael Kelly, who plays the character of Doug Stamper, confessed exit of creator Beau Willimon will affect the filming of the show's fifth season; however, Kelly is somehow confident the show will continue to do good with its new creators.
"Quite honestly, it broke my heart. He's not only a good friend but one of the most talented guys out there. I'll miss everything about him. It'll be tough for many reasons, but I think we'll continue to make a great show," Kelly said, as quoted by ET.
Creator Willimon announced his departure from Netflix's "House Of Cards" in January after the show revealed they will renew for a fifth season. "Prior to its fourth-season premiere, Netflix and [producers] Media Rights Capital are thrilled to announce that "House of Cards" will return for a fifth season in 2017. Concurrent with the renewal, creator and showrunner Beau Willimon is departing the critically acclaimed series," Netflix announced, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
On the other hand, Willimon expressed his gratitude to Netflix, MRC, his co-creators, writers, "House Of Cards" stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, and the rest of the staff and crew of the American drama series.
Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese are the new creators of "House Of Cards" following Willimon's departure. Meanwhile, the Netflix's signature drama garnered a total of 13 nods for this year's Emmy Awards. The Emmy nods include Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for 47-year-old Kelly.
The "House Of Cards" actor said he was spending time with his family at the beach when he learned about the Emmy nomination, adding that his wife even teased him that the actor will not get any nomination because he was with her.
"She was like, "You're not going to get nominated because we're together," because I never get any good news when I'm with my wife. And then my phone, right at that moment, went crazy," Kelly said.
