The BBC recently shared a sneak peak to the development of its widely popular and highly praised series "Sherlock" Season 4. One of the photos shared by the media outlet shows Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the titular character, alongside a huge bloodhound.
From that single photo alone believed to be taken in the set of "Sherlock" Season 4, the whole community came up with what could be expected in the upcoming fourth season of the series. "The Hound of the Baskervilles" was already released on the series' second season so that puts that out of the equation. This led many fans to believe that the series' producers might be working on some lesser known works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the author of "Sherlock Holmes" stories from which the series are based upon.
In an interview with The Telegraph, "Sherlock" Season 4 executive producer Steven Moffat said, "There are stories that we are making use of in different ways. We're using stories that people don't know somuch. Now we are getting into equally good, but far less well known, Conan Doyle stories."
Moffat also hinted that the upcoming season could be the series' last. Regarding the upcoming "Sherlock" Season 4, actor Toby Jones is slated to appear as one of the series' "baddie." This announcement also fueled several speculations as to which "Sherlock" villain Jones is going to play.
Some claims that Jones is going to play Culverton Smith who appears in "The Adventure of the Dying Detective." However, a significant portion of hardcore "Sherlock" fans believe that Jones will be playing Colonel Sebastian Moran who is considered to be Professor Moriarty's right-hand man. According to Digital Spy, now that Moriarty is dead, it seems quite logical for his right-hand man to appear with the possibility of revenge.
The official release date of "Sherlock" Season 4 has not been confirmed yet, but it is expected to debut in the United States early next year.
