Italian Serie A clubs Inter Milan and Napoli are reportedly joining English Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan this summer.
The 29-year-old Turkey international was acquired by Barça last summer from fellow La Liga squad Atletico Madrid for a reported transfer fee of £24 million. He was signed for a contract spanning five years, but Turan was not able to play for the Camp Nou residents until January of this year when FIFA's transfer ban imposed on the club was lifted.
He ended up playing 18 domestic games for the Catalonia squad last term, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the process. Overall, he appeared in 25 matches, producing two goals and four assists.
Reports had since been out that Barça manager Luis Enrique was not impressed by the performance of the 5-foot-10 Fatih, Turkey native and is ready to sell him to interested squads this summer.
Turan indeed had several cash-rich suitors as English clubs Arsenal and Chelsea were linked to the Turkey national team skipper even before the Euro 2016 began.
Caught Offside reported that "Inter Milan and Napoli have become the latest clubs to join the race" for the attacking midfielder and that Barça is keen on selling him "to claw back some of the £46 million" fee they spent buying Portuguese midfielder André Gomes from Valencia on July 21.
The Blaugrana is said to be willing to offload Turan even at a slightly lower price than what they paid for him in July of 2015 and so teams had been falling in line to submit their offers. At the moment, there is no one among the top four squads rumored to be interested that can be seen as the frontrunner for the Turkish footballer.
Meanwhile, The Sun indicated that Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez has been urging Gunners boss Arsene Wenger to "go all out" in snatching Turan from Spain after reports went out that they are willing to contend Chelsea's £20 million offer.
The Chilean forward is said to be eager to have Turan as his teammate next season as Sanchez was fully aware of his capabilities since he had faced him a number of times on the pitch when he was still with Barça and Turan with Atleti.
