Marvel Studio's released an official clip of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" at the San Diego Comic-Con, which featured the appearance of Baby Groot. Director James Gunn was present in the panel and shared why he chose to include Baby Groot instead of the full grown Groot. Those who attended the event were also lucky enough to have seen the Comic-con footage because it will not be released online just yet.
A lot of fans assumed that Groot would return to his original form in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." But during Gunn's writing process, he thought it would be best to retain the young version of Groot because it made the relationship of the characters better. During an interview with Collider, Gunn said that it was about being a family, and the audience would be all smiles if they could see how Baby Groot interacts with Yondu and Rocket.
Meanwhile, Gunn also explained why the footage released during the Comic-con will not be available online yet. Slash Film reported that Gunn recently released a video explaining why the footage of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" had to be held back. He said that although he wanted to share it to the public, he wanted it to be seen in its full and complete form. It is said that the visual effects of the clip was still lacking, and Gunn being a perfectionist could not live with giving the public just that.
Marvel Studio's guaranteed that the footage of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will definitely be released online sometime before the end of the year.
