The lead cast of the hit Korean drama series "Doctors," Park Shin Hye, is building a center to benefit the deprived children in the Philippines. Shin-Hye Manila Center is currently under construction and is expected to end by October 2017.
According to Manila Bulletin News, Park visited Manila on March to do a pictorial for Singles Magazine. During her stay, she met with a batch of needy children in Sampaloc, one of the cities in the Metro. She invited 150 children out to lunch and then spent time with them by painting t-shirts.
Her time with the kids made an impact to her, which made Park decide to build Shin-Hye Manila Center in order to help cater to the needy children. She took time to discuss about her plans with the Children Alliances Center (DAC), which yielded to positive outcomes.
Park's advocacy to support the needy children began in 2011 when she volunteered as a goodwill ambassador for the Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI) in Ghana. The Korean Times reported that Park felt like a mother to a 5-year-old malnourished child named Abanna, which sparked her passion to continue helping deprived children. Shin-Hye Manila Center will be the second home she worked to build, as the first is located in Ghana constructed in December 2013.
The Shin-Hye Center in Ghana is built with a playground, a library and provides services such as educational programs. The Shin-Hye Manila Center will have similar features and services.
