Many "Beetlejuice" fans were hoping that the classic horror film would finally have its sequel after Wynona Rider's hype returned. For years, there were rumors that the 1988 film would have a sequel soon; however, her co-star, Michael Keaton, thinks that the sequel will not be happening.

Keaton recently told Variety that he has not heard any news about a "Beetlejuice" sequel. He said that people seem to know more than he does because he doesn't think that he'll be back on screen to play Beetlejuice again. Rider, on the other hand, said that if the news about the sequel was true, she would feel bad that she was not the first to be informed.

Keaton further added that if someone else was to handle the film, or even as much as try to re-make it, then its best that the sequel doesn't happen at all. Tim Burton also had the same opinion about his own film.He even said that he has talked to Keaton and Rider about it and made it clear that there were plans, but there was nothing concrete.

According to Den of Geek, the director himself said that if given the right circumstance, he would agree to a "Beetlejuice" sequel but he had to do it right. He loved the characters too much and further shared that the film was not the kind that cries out for a follow-up, because if the supposed sequel won't come as close to the original, then it's best to just leave it alone.

The verdict is that, though there is a desire to make a "Beetlejuice" sequel, it's not going to happen soon. For the meantime, fans can catch Ryder in Netflix's "Stranger Things," and watch out for Keaton in "Spider-Man: Homecoming."
