Upcoming SBS drama "Saimdang, The Herstory" has finally released its official posters on Thursday, featuring South Korean actress Lee Young Ae and actor Song Seung Heon in their traditional Korean attires.
The release of the drama posters could add to the excitement of the fans, especially the followers of Lee, who is making a comeback after being on a hiatus for 12 years, Soompi reported. The "Jewel In The Palace" actress reportedly turned down an offer to be part of a drama sequel of the said Korean television series in 2014; however, Lee accepted to take part in "Saimdang, The Herstory" last year.
"We decided that Lee Young Ae's traditional and elegant image fit very well with "Saimdang, The Herstory." We're already excited to see how Lee Young Ae will act in the drama," Group 8 confirmed, as quoted by Kdramastars.
Reports revealed that China and Japan have already showed interest in airing "Saimdang, The Herstory" after the production company confirmed Lee's participation in the Korean historical drama.
The 45-year-old actress will play the roles of a university professor and Shin Saimdang, who is known as a talented artist, poet and scholar from the Joseon times. The upcoming "Saimdang, The Herstory" will serve as a reinterpretation of the life story of the historical figure.
Contrary to most Korean dramas, "Saimdang, The Herstory" is entirely a pre-produced television series. Further reports revealed that about 10 billion won was invested by Emperor Group for the Korean historical drama.
Although fans had to wait a little longer for Lee's comeback project, producers of "Saimdang, The Herstory" guaranteed they will produce a high quality drama series not only for Korean audience, but also for international viewers.
The 30-episode "Saimdang, The Herstory" will air every Saturdays and Sundays starting October 1 on SBS.
