Despite the growing disinterest of gamers towards the portable console platform, Japanese tech giant Nintendo sees this as an opportunity for business. The company recently unveiled its newest creation, the Nintendo NX which is a portable gaming console that is powered by the Nvidia Tegra mobile chipset.

Although Nintendo has yet to confirm the official specs of the NX, there are rumors brewing all over the tech community that the console will have the powerful Tegra X1 processor. This means that the NX will be more powerful that the Wii U in terms of hardware and computing powers.

Nintendo is also banking on the popularity of mobile gaming, which is why the company is designing the NX in an unconventional but interesting way. The NX, unlike most mobile gaming console, can be connected to a TV display and also supports local multiplayer modes. Moreover, Nintendo was probably looking at its past successes when it opted to choose cartridges for the NX rather than optical discs as the medium for delivery physical copies of games, according to Euro Gamer.

Based on some mock-up designs that are circulating the Internet, the Nintendo NX will most likely look like the new Nintendo 3DS model, but will new upgrades and tweaks, according to Nintendo Life. While these are not official designs from Nintendo, it does reveal just how much the NX is anticipated by many gamers.

Some market analysts consider Nintendo's stance when compared to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. While the last two consoles are typically marketed for teens to mature audiences, Nintendo was stuck in the market for the little ones. Evidence to this is the company's series of hardware that were released in the last 12 years.

With the new NX, Nintendo is aiming to revive its once glorious gaming empire. Based on the attention the upcoming console is getting, it appears that Nintendo might be on the right track.
