The comparison between "Bounty Hunters" actor Lee Min Ho and the big boss from "Descendants Of The Sun" Song Joong Ki has been going on for quite awhile. Although there were reports claiming the other actor surpassed the other Hallyu star, it seems like the battle of the hottest Korean male artist is a never-ending story.
According to Yibada, Song claimed the top spot for the 10 Hottest Korean Stars of Early 2016 in a poll conducted by Daily View among Taiwanese audience. The "Descendants Of The Sun" star garnered a total of 9,638 points, followed by Lee with only 1,767 points.
The result was based on a real time interpretation of the website's internet data between Jan. 24 to July 24, which was the period when "Descendants Of The Sun" was broadcasting. For this reason, Song's appearance in the popular drama must have been the reason for his big lead over the "Bounty Hunters" actor.
However, the comparison does not end there. Although Song has been named as the hottest Korean star in the first half of the year, MNG branded Lee as the most popular Hallyu star after being chosen to make an appearance at KCON in Los Angeles, California.
The agency emphasized Lee's competence in acting that gave him 23 awards, which include the best actor award, as well as the most popular international actor award. The 29-year-old actor is known for his shows "Boy Over Flowers," "City Hunter" and "The Heirs."
Followers of the "Bounty Hunters" actor went gaga for his appearance at the KCON Los Angeles which is scheduled from July 29 to 31 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
On the other hand, Song started to create a name in the industry for his role in "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" in 2010. Following his mandatory military service last year, Song was given a big break to be part of "Descendants Of The Sun," which was a huge success. Next year, Song will appear in a Korean movie called "Battleship Island" with So Ji Sub and Hwang Jung Min.
With this said, it is still hard to choose who among the two Hallyu stars holds the throne for the hottest and most popular Korean actor this year.
