"Vikings" season 4B finale is expected to hit a massive time jump. This has been suspected because of the first images revealed for the upcoming finale that depicted Ragnar Lothbrok and Floki with greyed beard and wrinkled faces.
The time jumps have been essential parts of "Vikings" story which was reportedly utilized wisely by creator Michael Hirst. However, the upcoming "Vikings" season 4B finale is suggested to have the most dramatic time jump with respect to an ageing Ragnar.
"Vikings" season 4B time jump will follow Ragnar's sons who have grown and vying to succeed Ragnar as king. They are suggested to begin training and grooming to become their father's successor. Ragnar's narrative, according to Hirst, is the story of the Vikings from very small beginnings as a farmer, to an earl and to a king who fought for kingdoms, the legacy and the future, The Hollywood Reporter.
Hirst added that Ragnar's story in "Vikings" season 4B will not tell where he was during his time away. However, what motivated him to return and how he would be received when he does will be revealed.
Hirst also explained that in "Vikings" season 4B society, a leader who had lost his way would be quickly replaced because it was a meritocracy. In Ragnar's situation, however, it is different, Screen Rant reported. He was the most famous Viking in Scandinavia and too famous to be replaced.
Hirst also revealed that when Ragnar lost a huge battle, it was too much of a shame for him. This caused him to absent himself as the shame of losing was too great for him to bear. However, Hirst continued to add that Ragnar's reign in "Vikings" season 4B is far from over.
"Vikings" season 4B will also feature Lagertha's new found love. She has found a woman named Astrid whom she can trust. The show is set to resume later this year on History. Watch "Vikings" Season 4 trailer here.
