No new Ford Bronco was released since 1996 but for some time now, there has been talk that the American car manufacturer will be resurrecting the sports utility vehicle along with the Ford Ranger pickup truck.
Back in January, Ford Truck Enthusiasts reported that, during a press conference, Ford made a subtle remark that they will be releasing four all-new SUVs globally within the next few years. No formal announcement was made regarding these upcoming vehicles, but there have been speculations that the lineup includes a new Bronco and a new Ranger.
Thus far, not much is known about the rumored Bronco except for speculations that it will have similarities with the Ranger. Reportedly, the two will share a new body-on frame, four wheel/rear-wheel drive design, with a solid rear axle as well as an independent front suspension. And because Ford has had breakthroughs with their famous F-150 and Super Duty pick-up trucks in terms of making them solid yet relatively lightweight, the upcoming vehicles are likely to benefit from the technology used for those.
While the Ranger, according to Car and Driver, is in response to the GMC Canyon and the Chevy Colorado, the Bronco will compete with the highly successful Jeep Wrangler. Ford Truck Enthusiasts said that the Bronco will have the same width as the Wrangler except for the overhangs and wheelbase. Ford's vehicle will reportedly be longer and with improved handling. It will also have a removable top, and the interior will be designed as a hose-it-out kind, something that will make it as a choice for off-road driving. It is likely, however, to be more refined than the Wrangler.
As for what will be under its hood, the report believes that it will be fitted with Ford's 2.7L Ecoboost engine that boasts somewhere between 320 and 350 horsepower.
There have been conflicting reports on when the rumored Bronco will be unveiled by Ford, with some, like NSEAVoice saying it could be unveiled this November, while others speculating that it will be next year, and still others guessing that it will be in 2020. At the moment, Ford has not yet made a formal announcement regarding the Bronco.
