"Agent Carter" actress Hayley Atwell says that she will be happy to return as Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After two seasons, ABC pulled the plug from the epic series "Agent Carter" but fans of the show are clamoring for its come back under Netflix via a petition, Comic Book Resources reported.
Should "Agent Carter" be picked up where it left off, Atwell said that she'd love to reprise the role if the show will still be on the table, The Wrap reported. She also commented about the timelessness of the role. "I'd love it to be [on the table]," Atwell teases.
"The great thing about Peggy is she lives a long life. I'm banking on being in my 50s and going, 'Let's see what Peggy's up to,' she said.
The role of Peggy Carter factored a great deal to Atwell's stardom since the character was introduced in "Captain America: The First Avenger." After "Agent Carter" got the ax, Atwell will move from being a Marvel Heroine to the titular role on "Conviction," another ABC series.
Despite the transition, Atwell is still keeping the hope alive that "Agent Carter" might still be revived.
"We felt by the end of the second season, that it was always one of those much-loved but little kind of places in the world of ABC. It was always very much up in the air... All I'm saying is that it's still a much loved show for the people involved with the making of it, and we know that the fans, it has a special place in their hearts. That's something I would be very happy to go back to if the opportunity came," she said.
The character's last appearance was in "Captain America: Civil War" where Peggy already died.
