Blake Shelton divorced his then wife and fellow country singer Miranda Lambert last July. As soon as he ended his five years of marriage, he started romancing his "The Voice" co-coach and pop star Gwen Stefani. Both are together since then, locked in their whirlwind of romance.
The "Came Here to Forget" singer does not seem to get over the new muse in his life, Stefani. The actor has went overboard in praising her openly in many music concerts and award shows earlier but this time the 40-year old country singer talked about the impact of Stefani's presence in her life.
According to Today, Shelton said that Stefani has saved his life. He added that it is surprising that both the musicians share the same sad phase of life by going through their respective divorces. Shelton thinks that may be this is the reason that they are able to understand each other better.
He further added that the two of them are not any different on paper and only one high-profile musician can understand the impact of divorce in that of other's life. Stefani also went through the dark phase of split and finally took divorce from his husband Gavin Rossdale in the same year as that of Shelton. It came as no surprise that their bond became stronger as they found friends in each other.
However, many fans questioned the timing of their divorces. Tabloids speculated that "The Voice" co-coaches had fling much before their publicized romance. Shelton and Stefani cleared the air later stating that they fell for each other only after their divorces.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Stefani got candid about her relationship with Shelton. She said that the phase of divorce was dark and hell-like yet she confided in Shelton, as he also went through the same sadness.
She also thinks that the similar events in their life lead her to open up with him about her split. She added that this lead to their friendship and eventually romance blossomed, which even Shelton seems to agree with. According to Stefani, both of them were not looking for a relationship at that point of time but it has just happened organically, as love was born out of their friendship.
