"No Man's Sky" developer Hello Games released an enormous day one patch that the company claims will add multiple endings for the game. Hello Games detailed that the game, although procedurally generated, will follow one of three paths that will bring a significant impact once the game reaches its end.
Hello Games head Sean Murray said that the official storyline of "No Man's Sky" was rewritten in order to make room for the game's multiple endings. Compared to initial speculations, Murray said that there will now be a higher chance of player discovery as a new feature that allows them to scan for areas visited by one player was added.
The "No Man's Sky" day one update is 824MB in size, which is fairly large for a game that is only 3.96GB in total. The game went live on Monday for those players who have purchased an early copy of it.
The new patch has one catch though, it will not be applied to existing save files, according to the "No Man's Sky" official website. This means that players who have already started the game will have to start anew in order to see the changes that were made by the patch. Hello Games also underwent some server wipes to remove early player save files, which means that those who have started earlier have to alternative but to start again from the beginning.
On the one side, for those who will purchase and install the game after its official launch on Tuesday will find the patch to be added already on installation process. Hello Games said that the patch also fixed some buggy elements of the game which include trading, universe creation, AI, and resource management.
One early exploit which allows players to reach the center of the universe in just a few hours was most probably fixed as well. In a statement acquired by EuroGamer, Murray said, "People using these cheats were ruining the game for themselves but people are weird and can't stop themselves."
