"Game of Thrones" actress Sophie Turner joins "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" actor Dylan McDermott and "The Nice Guys" Jack Kilmer in the independent drama "Huntsville." She is going from would-be queen to a troubled teenager.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project first came together at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, through Chief Executive Officer Luisa Iskin of the entertainment company The Coalition Group. At the time, "Boardwalk Empire" actor Shea Whigham and "The Witch" actress Anya Taylor-Joy were chosen in the lead roles but subsequently fell out.
"Huntsville" film is based on a 2014 Black List script that Anthony Ragnone wrote, Variety reported. The story is about a solitary man Hank (McDermott) living a dull existence in a sleepy Florida town. Hank develops a questionable relationship with a recently transplanted high school student Josie (Turner).
The production of "Huntsville" is scheduled to start this August in and around Los Angeles. "Madison County" director Eric England will be directing it. Chief Executive Officer Kim Leadford from StarStream Media will executive produce together with Iskin, Ash Sarohia, and John Wunder. Other producers will be Carissa Buffel, Steven Chester Prince, Stephen Bowen, Jeff Kalligheri, and Kevin Matusow.
The talent Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and The Gersh Agency are repping domestic rights for "Huntsville." CAA handles Turner, McDermont, and Jacobson. Turner is best known for her role as Sansa Stark in HBO's "Game of Thrones." She recently appeared as Jean Grey in the sci-fi film "X-Men: Apocalypse."
McDermott stars as Bobby Donnell in the long-running TV series "The Practice," while Kilmer is the son of Val Kilmer and actress Joanna Whalley. He played as Teddy in "Palo Alto" alongside Emma Roberts and Nat Wolff.
