Utada Hikaru will be releasing a new album after being on hiatus for eight years. It has been revealed that the title of her sixth Japanese studio album will be "Fantome." The singer personally hired French photographer Julien Mignot as the photographer for her new album.
According to Japan Today, "Fantome" will be an eleven track CD. Included will be eight new songs and her previously released tracks titled "Sakura Nagashi," the theme for "Evangelion: 3.0," "Hanataba wo Kimi ni," and "Manatsu no Tooriame."
Many fans speculate that her new album will be heavy-hearted and emotional based on the loss of Hikaru's mother. Her previous tracks have also hinted that it would incorporate traditional rhythms and tunes. The singer also hired French photographer Julien Mignot to do the shots for "Fatome" because she was a big fan of his work.
Prior to the news about "Fatome," Hikaru announced back in 2010 that she was taking a break from her career. She revealed that she wanted to focus on being a regular person. Previously, Pop Crush reported that the actress admits she regretted working on her first album at a young age of 15. Despite her debut album, "First Love," being a massive success after its release back in the year 1999, the singer said that she missed a lot of things at a young age because she focused too much in her career as a musician.
Hikaru being on hiatus could be her way of making up for the regrets that she mentioned in the past. But now, the singer is ready to make a comeback as "Fatome" will be released on September.
