Fans are eagerly counting the months until the film adaptation of "Assassin's Creed" hits theaters. Meanwhile, filmmakers continue to tease with new snippets of information about the upcoming movie.

In the latest score of revelations, production smith Tim Wildgoose reveals new details about the movie. According to Entertainment Weekly, Wildgoose said that characters from the games will be featured in the film, which stars Michael Fassbender.

Wildgoose revealed during the interview that Ubisoft Entertainment (Ubisoft) had given him digital assets to use as reference for his props. The armorer said that he used the assets to learn how his props should work, and said that most of the weapons he created were exclusive to the movie. However, he added that he also created some weapons from the Ubisoft assets, wherein these weapons are to be used by the assassins from the games who will appear in the film.

Wildgoose, however, spoiled no specific details on the characters. He just hinted that they are not the main protagonists from the games; however, these characters are supposedly popular among the games' fanbase.

The film is set to be released on Dec. 21. Based on the popular franchise created by Ubisoft, the film follows the characters Lynch Callum and Aguilar de Nerha. Both will be played by Fassbender. Lynch Callum is a descendant of Spanish Assassin Aguilar. Callum must explore the genetic memories of his ancestor in order to learn his skills and use them in the present-day.

In the film and in the games, the Assassins are a shadowy organization of contract killers who wage a secret war against the Templars. The many games in the franchise have portrayed various historical personalities as part of either faction, alongside the fictional protagonists.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures, Ubisoft's film production arm, announced that Fassbenderwill be joined by Jeremy Irons, Ariana Labed, Brendan Gleeson and Marion Cotillard.

In other news, Ubisoft has made the decision not to release a new game in 2016 in support of the film, Game Spot reported. The next game will come out in 2017 and will reportedly take place in Egypt.
