"Criminal Minds" star Thomas Gibson has been sacked from the series, following a reported on-set altercation with a producer.
ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios announced Gibson's dismissal in a statement. Gibson played investigator Aaron Hotchner for the crime drama since it debuted in 2005.
Apparently, Gibson kicked co-executive producer Virgil Williams while on set in Los Angeles. Gibson has since released an apology and confirmed that he was involved in a heated disagreement when the incident occurred, Deadline reported.
"There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement. I regret that it occurred," he said. He also went to say that the disagreement was due to "creative differences" on what they think is the best for the show.
In response to his dismissal from the show, the 54-year old actor is emotional. Gibson has accepted that it will no longer be possible for him to see the show up to its end and thanked the people he's worked with during his 12-year stint, BBC reported.
"I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last twelve years. I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have," he said.
In addition to his immediate dismissal from the show, Gibson have also nixed his upcoming directorial stint in one of the episodes of "Criminal Minds" Season 12. Gibson's character has been reportedly writing off the episodes while the production of the show continues.
"Criminal Minds" Season 12 is slated to return on Sept. 28, 2016.
