Fans were excited when Disney confirmed that "High School Musical 4" was happening, but would the film be the same without its lead stars? Recently, Ashely Tisdale said that she will not be reprising her role as Sharpay Evans while Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Effron have not confirmed their return. Rumors are circling that Hugdens currently holds a grudge towards Effron which could make it difficult for them to work together on set.
Earline in June, Tisdale confirmed via New You that she would not be returning to "High School Musical 4." According to the actress, appearing in the first three installments was more than enough for her and she would want to focus on her new career as a designer. But moving on with her career as an actress/singer doesn't mean she won't be bringing her character with her. She shared that playing the role of Sharpay was a great experience for her and considered the character as her breathing alter-ego.
Meanwhile. Hudgens and Effron have not confirmed their return to "High School Musical 4." Many speculate that the actor wasn't ready to see his ex-girlfriend and co-star Hudgens again, but he reasoned that he couldn't confirm his return to the sequel because he had prior commitments. The Hollywood Life previously reported that the actor was making sappy phone calls to the actress after his break-up with Sami Miro. Rumors suggest that the actress still holds a grudge towards Effron which would make it difficult for them to work professionally on set.
As of date, Disney is looking to add in new characters in "High School Musical 4." The film will likely hit theaters in the early part of 2017, but those who expected a Wildcats' reunion probably won't see it happening.
