Girls' Generation member Tiffany is currently being bombarded with criticisms by her Korean fans after the singer-actress posted a couple of photos that feature the Japanese flag while Korea celebrates National Liberation Day on Aug. 15.
National Liberation Day in Korea is a commemoration of the country's freedom from Japanese imperial, Soompi reported. Amid celebration on Monday, Tiffany's posts captured the attention of her Korean fans who took offense of the posts. Some of them even asked the Girls' Generation member to leave reality show "Sister's Slam Dunk."
Tiffany's posts came after Girls' Generation concluded their "SMTOWN Live Tour V" in Japan on Sunday. The first photo was an Instagram post that featured Tiffany with her labelmates and captioned, "Babes" alongside Japanese flag and heart emoticons, while the second photo was posted on Snapchat which featured the Japanese Confederate flag.
According to The Chosunilbo, Tiffany later deleted the photo caption and posted an apology after receiving backlash from her Korean fans. The Girls' Generation member wrote, "I apologize for upsetting so many with my mistake on this important day. I'm ashamed for disappointing everyone with this kind of mistake, and I deeply regret my actions."
Tiffany even promised to be more cautious when posting considering she has millions of followers on her social media accounts. The 27-year-old singer-actress added she won't let the same mistake happen again in the future.
The Girls' Generation member was born and raised in California, who later flew to South Korea to continue her studies before she was invited by SM Entertainment to audition for Starlight Casting System. Tiffany debuted with Girls' Generation in 2007 with Taeyeon and Seohyun.
She started her hosting career in the same year on Mnet's "Sonyeon Sonyeo Gayo Baekseo." In 2011, Tiffany appeared in the musical called "Fame," where she played as Carmen Diaz. Just recently, the Girls' Generation member released her first mini album titled "I Just Wanna Dance."
