"Homeland" enlists "Prison Break" actor Robert Knepper to join its cast in Season 6. His casting on the hit spy drama has been announced by Showtime on Tuesday.
Knepper will play the role of Department of Defense representative General Jamie McClendon on "Homeland" Season 6, Variety has learned. Set to appear in a recurring basis, Knepper's Jamie is the person tasked in briefing the new president-elect Elizabeth Keane and her staff. It is yet to be determined if he will be interacting with lead actress Claire Danes in an upcoming episode.
Knepper joins previously cast Patrick Sabongui (The Flash) as an advocate for the Muslim-American community, Hill Harper (Limitless) as the chief of Staff of Keane and Elizabeth Marvel (House of Cards) as the female president. Aside from "Homeland" Season 6, Knepper is also set to reprise his role as T-Bag in FOX's revival of Prison Break and will be part of Showtime's "Twin Peaks," which is another resurrected show.
"Homeland" has plotted multiple political arcs in Season 6. According to Entertainment Weekly, some of the storylines revealed by the show's producers include the aftermath of the 9/11 attack and the upcoming US presidential election. As for Carrie, viewers will find her working at a Muslim-American foundation based in New York city.
In minor arcs, it is expected that the relationship of Quinn and Carrie will be further explored when the series resumes in January. Showrunner Alex Gansa recently confirmed that Quinn has survived last season's deadly incident which left him on a vegetative state. On that note, the showrunner did not deny that the latter will be a "changed" man in "Homeland" Season 6.
"Homeland" Season 6 premieres on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 9PM on Showtime.
