"Suicide Squad" remains the top movie at the box office despite dropping another 52 percent last week. Despite that the film garnered poor reviews it proves to be one that doesn't align with the trend of flopping in the box office. In fact, the film is considered to be the first DC Extended Universe franchise to hold the number one spot for three weeks in a row.
"Suicide Squad" has experienced another drop in its ratings, but despite that, the film remains to hold the top spot in the box office for three weeks in a row. Cinema Blend reported that it garnered an additional $20 million to its domestic total of $262 million. The film is also projected to land an average of $350 million, enough to match its fellow DC Extended Universe film, "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."
However, despite the impressive achievement that "Suicide Squad" has gained in the box office, Screen Rant reported that it was still difficult to gauge if Warner Bros. Studios would consider the film a financial success since there were previous reports that it needed an average of $800 million to break even with its budget. As of date, the films' total global income amounts to only an average of $572 million.
Meanwhile, the same source reported that part of the reason why "Suicide Squad" managed to maintain its' position in the box office could be attributed to its competitor, "Ben Hur." Paramount and MGM's remake of the classic 1959 film was considered a flop, making only $11.35 million during the film's opening.
