Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist Flea has found a new music buddy with Koko the Gorilla at the Gorilla Foundation in Woodside, California.
Rock musician Flea was spotted having fun during an unusual jamming music session with Koko, according to the People.
"This is just the greatest thing that could ever happen. This is the day that I will never forget in my life," said the 53-year old Australian-born American musician in a video he posted online. In the video, Koko is seen strumming the guitar while Flea is laying down.
"Koko rocks a flea bass like it ain't nuthin," according to the rock star.
Aside from the video, Flea has also posted online several photos and some other videos of his interaction with Koko. The two new found friends were also seen embracing each other in one of the photos. Flea captioned the photo with "My sweet and true friend Koko."
Koko the Gorilla
Koko has become famous because of her enormous talents and the way she easily learned many tricks.
A Western-lowland gorilla, Koko allegedly knows around 1,000 signs as reported by CBS News. Ten percent of these 1,000 signs were not taught but are categorized as natural gestures.
At six months old, Koko was already exposed to verbal English. At one year old, she already knew how to do signing and reading, according to the Gorilla Foundation website.
Also, taking good care of Koko has always been easy in the sanctuary where she is staying, said Gorilla Foundation. Koko can communicate her wants, needs and feelings to her caregivers in the sanctuary. In return, her caregivers make sure that her wants are well-accommodated. Their two-way communication allows easier way in taking good care of Koko.
Apple of the eyes
Aside from Flea, other celebrities who adore Koko include Betty White. White has been vocal about her admiration to Koko and has visited the star gorilla several times already at the Gorilla Foundation.
Meanwhile, the foundation reciprocates the attention and care that the celebrities have for Koko. During Flea's visit, the foundation expressed its excitement and gratitude.
"One of Koko's favorite musicians, Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers came to visit. Koko was thrilled by the mellow sounds and a jamming session followed with Koko strumming on Flea's base," the foundation posted on its site.
