Tottenham Hotspur FC is reportedly eyeing FC Barcelona's young forward Munir El Haddadi with a release clause of £12.9 million late in the summer.

Sun Sport reported that the English club is "stepping up their pursuit" of the 20-year-old striker as the team wants to add to their attacking options at the White Hart Lane.

At the moment, head coach Mauricio Pochettino only has Harry Kane and new acquisition Vincent Janssen as his choices at center forward, which is thought to be not enough if they want to contend for the Premier League title this season.

Munir has been looking more first-team time in manager Luis Enrique's rotation, which he is currently having right now because Brazilian captain Neymar still has not returned from his Olympic gold-medal-winning stint with his national team.

The 5-foot-9, El Escorial, Spain native has presently been sharing starting XI duties with Turkish forward Arda Turan to fill-in for Neymar as the third attacker in Enrique's 4-3-3 formation beside Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez.

However, it will not last long as after the Brazilian skipper comes back, he will also be back again to his original reserve role in Barça's deep attacking lineup.

Several La Liga clubs are reportedly interested in Munir at present, namely Celta Vigo, Valencia, and Real Sociedad, but no one has submitted an official bid yet. English teams Everton and Stoke City have also inquired about the young goalscorer.

The report noted that Munir's £12.9 million fee comes with a buyback clause, similar to what Real Madrid put on striker Alvaro Morata, so that the Blaugrana will have the option to buy him back anytime in the future if the club so decides.

Meanwhile, Caught Offside indicated that the Catalan giants are actually planning to buy a new striker before the summer transfer window ends and so Munir is concerned that his chances of first-team time will further decrease if it happens.

"Barcelona told us their intention was to sign a new striker," said Munir's agent, Francesc Valdivieso. "Munir has to understand that it could compromise his sporting chances and stack things against him. I can't guarantee Munir will be a Barcelona player on September 1."
