There is a possibility that the Brooklyn Nets could have a Jeremy Lin-Eric Bledsoe backcourt combination next season as the team is rumored to be shopping All-Star center Brook Lopez this summer.
The 28-year-old Lopez is entering his ninth season in the NBA all with the same franchise. He spent his first four professional years with the Nets in New Jersey until the club relocated to Brooklyn in the summer of 2012.
Lopez had been the central figure in the squad's frontcourt throughout his career even when veteran All-Star big man Kevin Garnett was briefly his teammate during the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons.
The former Stanford Cardinals standout was chosen to replace the injured Rajon Rondo in the 2013 NBA All-Star Game in Houston, which is his only citation in the annual event so far.
While he is still considered a young veteran, the Nets are reportedly considering to trade him this summer.
The franchise was able to qualify to the playoffs only three times in the eight years he had been there and when they do, the team was only able to advance past the first round once in 2014 when they defeated the Toronto Raptors, 4-3.
With that, the ballclub may be looking to move on from their prized starting center as their partnership is clearly unfruitful over the past seasons.
RealGM reported that Lopez is "ripe to be dealt" by the Nets right now as the two parties do not expect things to get better moving forward. Brooklyn is said to be planning to "start over around a young nucleus", which is why they "traded Thaddeus Young to the Indiana Pacers for the 20th overall pick in last June's draft".
This could mean that Lopez is next in line to get dealt.
Morning News USA indicated that a potential trade with the Phoenix Suns involving its point guard Eric Bledsoe is possible as the Arizona squad is badly in need of big men at the moment.
The suggested trade will reportedly address the needs of both teams as Brooklyn is also short on guards apart from new acquisition Lin. So far, Lin is the only signed point guard in the Nets' roster while the Suns only has the aging Tyson Chandler and inexperienced Alex Len as their centers.
