Deepika Padukone is the India's highest paid actress in 2016, as per Forbes magazine. The 30-year-old actress becomes the first Indian actress ever to get a place in Forbes magazine's world top 10 highest paid actresses list.
"Padukone is the only newcomer to the World's Highest Paid Actresses ranking and the only Indian star to make the cut," the magazine said. "Padukone, who got her big break with 2007′s Om Shanti Om, has since starred in several films that have crossed the $150 million or 100 crore mark-a barometer for box office success in India," it added.
"Quantico" star and another leading Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who is expected to get a place in Forbes' world's highest paid actresses list, did not make it to the coveted club, Bollywood Life reported. Chopra is currently shooting for her Hollywood debut "Baywatch" movie.
Model turned actress Deepika Padukone has recently increased her remuneration to Rs 15 crore per movie, becoming highest paid actress in Bollywood. Other leading actresses including Priyanka Chopra are far behind her in terms of per movie earning.
Padukone, who is riding high on the success of her last Bollywood movies "Bajirao Mastani" and "Piku," named the brand ambassador of Indian airline Vistara early this week. She also made it to Vanity Fair's Hollywood's Next Generation issue.
The "Tamasha" actress, who bagged Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next project "Padmavati" opposite her actor boyfriend Ranveer Singh, will currently busy shooting for her Hollywood debut movie "XxX: Return of Xander Cage" opposite Vin Diesel.
