Jeremy Renner joins the voice cast in AMBI's "Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad." He has signed on to voice the lead character in the 3D animated family film.
Renner will be voicing a fox named Swifty in "Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad," as Variety reported. He joins previously announced Alec Baldwin, Anjelica Huston, James Franco, and Omar Sy in a rag-tag group of inexperienced heroes combining to thwart the evil Doc Walrus, voiced by John Cleese, and save the Arctic.
"Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad" is fully financed and produced by AMBI principals Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi. The animation work is created out of their AIC Toronto studio by "Shark Tale" veteran animator Dimos Vrysellas.
Cal Brunker and Bob Barlen co-wrote the screenplay in "Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad." Brunker is the animator of "Despicable Me" and "Ice Age: Continental Drift." Barlen is best known for co-writing The Weinstein Company's animated film "Escape From Planet Earth."
AMBI Distribution is the AMBI Group's sales arm and will oversee the worldwide distribution for "Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad." It has already closed a deal with Disney for German Speaking Europe. It is selling markets for the upcoming film at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Renner also is the executive producer of History's upcoming scripted drama series "Knightfall." He will also guest star in the series. The 10-episode drama series is expected to hit screens in January next year. It is part of the network's continued scripted push after the success of "Vikings."
The production of "Knightfall" is also expected to resume on Monday despite significant damage to the sets. A fire tore through a newly built backlot set this Friday afternoon at Prague's Barrandov Film Studios in the Czech Republic.
