Mahatma Gandhi is making a comeback in "Civilization VI" to lead the nation of India. His character has been around since the beginning of the series, a quarter of the century back. While Gandhi promotes non-violence on behalf of the country, India also gets Varo elephant cavalry to keep power equation in balance.
In "Civilization VI," Gandhi's special power is to provide faith boost when in contact with other civs which are not at war with India. According to Digital Trends, the faith boost is likely to be around +5 per turn. The civs, which choose to wage war against India, are castigated with happiness penalty. Overall, the character of Gandhi is at its best when there are multiple religions cohabiting in peace.
However, it is not all about peace and non-violence in "Civilization VI." In order to face the realities of the world, India is equipped with a war elephant cavalry unit called Varu, which has the ability of diminishing the combat strength of adjacent adversaries.
PCGamer reported that "Civilization VI" also features unique tile improvement in the form of the stepwell. The stepwells offer bonus food when they are located adjacent to a farm. Stepwells built close to a holy site provide bonus faith. Stepwells change access to adjust according to the water level.
Through its unique Dharma ability, India lets its cities to benefit from all existing religions and not just the leading faith system. The benefits come in the form of housing from temples and shrines, bonus faith from wonders and production from followers.
"Civilization VI" is scheduled to be released on Oct. 21.
