After a lot of speculations and theories, "Game Of Thrones" has finally dropped the bomb to confirm Jon Snow's parentage. In its Season 6 finale, the HBO series revealed the secret behind Jon Snow's birth and why Ned Stark claimed him as his own bastard son.

Mysteries were unraveled when Ned Stark had a reunion with his sister Lyanna Stark, who made him promise to look after her child, and apparently the child was Jon Snow. In a nutshell, Ned Stark declared Jon Snow as his own to protect the newborn child from getting killed by Robert Baratheon, MTV reported.

Now we are left with one question, who is the father of Jon Snow? While "Game Of Thrones" Season 6 refused to reveal who exactly is the father of the "bastard," a chart posted by HBO would somehow lead us to the assumption that Rhaegar Targaryen  is the  father of Jon Snow, The Telegraph noted.

Rhaegar Targaryen is the prince of the Seven Kingdoms, son of the Mad King Aerys Targaryen and the older brother of Daenerys Stormborn. Although he was married to Elia Martell, the Targaryen prince was assumed to have a mutual relationship with Lyanna Stark, while other assumptions stated the two got married secretly.

Having a Stark-Targaryen bloodline and as the surviving son of Rhaegar Targaryen, Jon Snow clearly has a stronger claim to the Iron Throne over his aunt Daenerys. With this being spelled out, Sansa Stark could become the heir to the North as Ned Stark's eldest daughter.

Despite all these assumptions, we can't deny the fact that George R.R. Martin loves to surprise his followers. Perhaps diehard fans can continue in putting the pieces together until "Game Of Thrones" returns in April 2017.

For the meantime, take a look at the production of "Game Of Thrones" Season 7.
