Kim Hyun Joong, the Korean actor who has recently been in the spotlight for beating his then-girlfriend, "A", apologized through a statement released on his official website.
In his statement released on September 15, the "Boys Over Flowers" actor admitted his shame for "committing something that a man should never do." He acknowledged that is was entirely his fault and that he wishes she would forgive him. The actor mentioned that he is striving to become a better person.
"A"'s camp, however, revealed that the actor also apologized to her directly through a phone call. She has not yet made a decision whether she would drop charges her not.
However, days before the apology statement was released, Hyun Joong's lawyer said that he was full of regret. The lawyer also added that the actor wishes to settle the dispute outside of court.
On the same day, "A"'s cousel urged for Hyun Joong's apology and admittance to the physical abuse, or else they would release more evidence of the incident.
The ex-couple has stirred lots of controversy regarding the roots and details of their relationship. According to "A", they have been dating for over two years, but Kim Hyun Joong's agency, KeyEast, claim that they have only been in a relationship a few months prior to the unfortunate incident.
Dispatch Korea has since dug up proof that the two have been dating since April of 2012.
There is no clear word about how many times physical abuse was committed, but Kim Hyun Joong's agency has admitted that the couple's arguments becoming heated and eventually physical eventually led to their breakup. The actor's agency said that the beating only happened once.
