"New Girl" goes Bollywood as Schmidt performs a dance that is guaranteed to send Schmidt and Cece fanatics go wild.
Coming from an extra long break, New Girl Season 5 premiered with a huge treat to all its fans: a Schmidt and Cece engagement party. Schmidt got the party started by performing a Bollywood dance in hopes of earning the approval of Cece's mother.
While most fans of the on-screen couple will find this adorable, Cece's mom is not easily impressed. Earning the approval of Mother Cece turned out to be a lot more difficult than most of them ever suspected.
According to Bustle, the show starts when Jess and Schmidt thought it would be a great surprise to fly Cece's mom for the festivities. Apparently, Cece had not informed her mom that she was engaged which caused an even bigger problem.
Naturally, Mama P was less than thrilled upon learning about the wedding, which made it even harder to win her approval. Determined to turn things around, Schmidt brought out his Bollywood dance skills to the picture.
Jess reveals that Mama P has a soft spot for Bollywood performance so the idea of putting Schmidt in the spotlight was a giveaway. Coupled with the natural charm of actor Max Greenfield who plays Schmidt on the TV series, nothing could go wrong.
Unfortunately, neither Schmidt nor Nick could do anything to melt Mama P's heart. Even when confronted by the entire gang, the mother still disapproved their marriage.
Despite so, Cece made it clear that she would be going through the wedding with or without her mom's approval. While not entirely because of her love for Schmidt, but because she received the approval of her friends which is the most important of all.
The show shows how their friends' love and support are the only things that the couple needs to get a happily ever after.
While the show might not have an entirely nice happy ending, fans would certainly be delighted with the group's fantastic dance sequence.
