Microsoft had an earlier announcement that excited fans of both the "Halo" and "Forza" franchises. The Australia-set racing game "Forza Horizon 3" will be featuring the iconic Warthog vehicle hailing from the "Halo" series.
343's blog for "Halo" revealed performance stats for the Warthog in "Forza Horizon 3," saying that it has more speed and less weight than its counterpart in the "Halo" series. The blog also showcases the specifics for the Warthog's performance:
It was also stated by 343 that the game's rough and rocky setting, the Australian Outback, suits the Warthog's capabilities. Modelled as the M12S Warthog CST, the vehicle is reported to also have more maneuverability with better high-speed handling and performance, than the militaristic variant, the M12 Force Application Vehicle (FAV). The M12S also possesses better suspension than most cars in the game.
Chris Phillips of "Forza Horizon 3" mentioned that adding iconic "Halo" vehicle in the game had a "very different" process. He mentioned that in the past games, they thoroughly researched the cars' specs from the information they directly gathered from the actual respective manufacturers to execute them as accurately as possible in the game. However, for the M12S Warthog CST, it is a different case. Without any valid real-world data, the developers speculated and tested on how the Warthog would actually function in Earth's environment.
In the official blog of "Forza," it will take some getting used to driving the Warthog without getting intercepted by enemy fire, according to 343 writer Jeff Easterling. The writer even stated that the iconic hero Master Chief would even "feel at home" riding through the Outback, while "Halo 5" character Jameson Locke would probably be more "suited to the glorious Lamborghini Centenario."
There are a few ways in obtaining the Warthog when "Forza Horizon 3" launches on Sept. 27. Players would need to finish playing either "Halo 5: Guardians" or "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" as codes will be given by next week. For those who don't have the chance to play these "Halo" games, players can still achieve the Warthog vehicle by competing in an event called "Forzathon" this coming October.
