The South Korean Actor Lee Kwang Soo was honoured with a prestigious award on Chinese award show "Weibo Night 2015" on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016. The 30-year-old actor was recognised as the most Popular Asian Artist of the year 2015.
According to BNT News, the award ceremony was held at Guomao Hotel in Beijing China wherein the most popular celebrities on Weibo were honoured. For those unaware, Weibo is one of the biggest Chinese microblogging website that was launched in the year 2009.
While receiving the award, Lee Kwang Soo addressed the audience in Chinese. "I'm happy enough to be invited to such an event and this huge prize makes me feel deeply appreciated. I will try my best to show good sides this year as much as you loved me in 2015," the actor said while expressing his gratitude.
Lee Kwang Soo is said to be an "all-round entertainer," who started his career in media industry in the year 2007 as a model. SBS' Good Sunday variety show "Running Man" proved to be his shot to fame. His increased popularity earned him the name of "Prince of Asia." As noted by Korea Portal, Lee Kwang Soo has more than 7 million followers on Weibo and more than 1 million followers on Twitter.
As for his acting career, Lee Kwang Soo is known for his work in romcoms like "Wonderful Radio" and "All About My Wife." He also appeared in "The Scent" and "A Wonderful Moment." He served as a voice actor in the 2013 animated movie "Maritime Police Marco." His first movie role as the leading character was 2014's "Confession."
In future, he will be featuring in a cameo role in the 2016 television dramas "Descendants of the Sun," "Puck" and "Dear My Friends."
Lee Kwang Soo joined slew of Asian actors during the award night. Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming, Hong Kong starlet Angelababy and South Korean actress Song Ji-hyo were some of the popular faces seen at the Weibo night.
