Singer-songwriter Roy Kim shrugged off the idea of being compared to other Korean artists who are of the same age as him. During his appearance on tvN program "Live Talk Show Taxi," Kim composedly answered why he looks older than his age.
The 23-year-old singer-songwriter retorted, "I often get told that I look older, but I've had this face since middle school," as quoted by Allkpop. On the other hand, MC Lee Young Ja dropped the names of other Korean personalities with the same age as Kim. These artists include Taemin of SHINee, D.O. of EXO and IU.
Meanwhile, fans came to rescue Kim and said the singer is still good-looking despite the comparison. A commenter posted, "I think it's great that he looks his age and not like he is still in high school." Another fan said, "He doesn't look that old... They just look way too young. He is still cute though."
Kim started his singing career on Mnet's singing program "Superstar K4" where he topped the competition. He officially made his debut in 2013 with the release of his first album titled "Love Love Love."
He is currently a student of Georgetown University taking sociology as his major. The Korean star said he tries to maintain a low-key life while studying. "I've spent more of my life trying to get into school than trying to be a musician, so it would be a waste if I stopped now," Kim told Washington Post.
Kim continued, "I want to come here before I get used to a celebrity life. If everybody treats you like a celebrity for a long time, you become full of yourself, and that's the last thing I want to be."
