"The Legend of Tarzan" actress Margot Robbie signs first-look deal with Warner Bros. and is set to produce possible her Harley Quinn "Suicide Squad" spinoff film. She is setting down roots at the studio.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robbie already had two projects set at the Warner Bros. studio. The projects included an untitled spinoff for her "Suicide Squad" character Harley Quinn with other DC heroines and an adaptation of Dean N. Jensen's "Queen of the Air."
Robbie signs the deal with the Warner Bros. studio to develop and produce feature films through her LuckyChap Entertainment production company, alongside her colleagues Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, and Sophia Kerr, as Variety reported. It underlines the studio's renewed focus on female-driven storytelling and comes after some notable moves from the Burbank-based studio. Warner Bros.' president Greg Silverman of creative development and worldwide production spearheaded the program.
Robbie has starred in three Warner Bros. films, namely, "Focus" (2015), "The Legend of Tarzan" (2016), and "Suicide Squad" (2016). She also made a breakout performance in Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street" back in 2013. She was only 26 years old at that time but has quickly grasped control of her career.
With LuckyChap, Robbie is currently developing and producing a Tonya Harding biopic "I, Tonya" as she plays the disgraced figure skater. She is also developing an adaptation of Matt Ruff's "Bad Monkeys" with Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark from Bluegrass Films for Universal Pictures. She is reportedly filming an animation "Larrikins" with directors Chris Miller and Tim Minchin. She is repped by CAA, Management 360 and attorney Jeff Bernstein of Jackoway Tyerman.
Robbie and LuckyChap are in post-production on their first movie as producers in the upcoming neo-noir thriller "Terminal." Warner Bros. has DC's iconic female superhero "Wonder Woman," coming out next year. It is prepping a female-centric take "Ocean's Ocho" from Ocean's 11.
